Shakti Health, Fitness & Wellness - Newton

This place is 100% closed now, theres nothing in the store, the windows are covered over. These guys stole money and ran, and the place was insanely overpriced so they probably got what they could and cut their losses. Shady and illegal come to mind.

Horrible and dishonest owners. They closed the Newton location without any warning. I paid for a year's membership and still have no response from owner on refund or any other options. Heard they still haven't paid their employees either. I'd keep away from this entire franchise unless you want to give your money to a couple of dishonest business men, Raj and Ricardo.

I have been a customer of this studio for almost a year.  I started when they were GISFW, and have continued through the time they changed to Shakti in Newton.  The trainers have been fantastic, and I like the other women in my small group very much.  I'm stronger and healthier than before I started training there.  But the management of the studio has been really terrible and almost all the trainers I like have left.  They changed the workout formats, the organization, even the location without much notice.  They sold me a multi-month package without disclosing the changes they were making 3 days later!  They scheduled sessions and weren't there when scheduled.  They communicated poorly about moving the studio ACROSS TOWN.  The owners really treated the customers poorly, even thought the rates per workout are pretty steep.  If you buy more than week-to-week, be sure that you pay by credit card so you have some recourse when they change everything that they have promised you.

I am loving Get in Shape for Women! It has relatively new ownership! Lisa, the owner is extremely motivating with both fitness, food logs and weight management. It's not cheap but it is a really good deal when you compare it to the cost of personal training at other places.  They have different membership options so that you can tailor it to your needs, but the longer you sign on for, the cheaper it is per session.
