My sister took 3 coin silver items into the pawn shop. They took one look at it and said it was silver plate.
Silver plate is so much heavier than coin silver, there is no way to mistake the two.
A woman of color walking into a shop with 3 solid silver items could not possibly be real.
Then she went home and got stamped sterling. Same result.
I am certain that if she was Caucasian, there would have been a different outcome.
Live and learn. Crazy part is that the shop is in the hood.
They will gladly accept everyone's gold. But when a more sophisticated comes in with coin silver from the early 1800's, it must be fake
Crazy. Won't be doing business there anymore.
