I purchased lakefront property last year, and am eager to do what I can to restore it to its native ecosystem. I was pleased to find that Washington Conservation District's website contains a plethora of helpful information and links. I am however very disappointed with the communication and lack of follow through I've receiced since then. Like a lot of people, I simply don't know what to do with my property to achieve the goal of ecosystem restoration. I had a site visit with WCD last year, and was promised a basic rain garden plant design. I have never received this. A few months ago I reached out regarding options for restoring our man-made beach to its native state, and again, a dead end. I understand that I am just one small property in the entire watershed, however isn't that the point? Ecosystem restoration is an uphill battle to say the least, so if WCD it's serious about achieving their mission of "... to enhance, protect, and preserve the natural resources of Washington County through conservation projects, technical guidance, and educational services", then they would be wise to respond to the people who are willing to part with their own time and money to achieve this end.
