Roots Hydro-Organics

I frequent this business for nutrients and organic soil used to top my outdoor vegetable beds. I stop here about three times each year. The interactions are pleasant and often humorous. The staff is informative and they always offer to load my vehicle when I purchase heavy items. Be sure to CALL BEFORE YOU MAKE THE TRIP. Actual store hours do not reflect what is posted online, thus the three stars.

The first time I came here the only employee in the store was asleep behind the counter. I came back a over a year later and while the front of the store has seen some upgrades, the customer service is still lacking. Even though they were supposed to be open until 6pm, there was a sign on the door saying they'd be open at 2pm. I went and grabbed a late lunch, came back at 2:15, still no one there.

What to say about this place... I have a big aquaponics project going and I was looking for some face to face advice rather than buying from amazon. From the beginning it was hard to find the place since they have a sign on the front of the building but the entrance is actually in the back. Certainly not a traditional retail shop inside. Only one small tank running with 1 tilapia. It sort of looked like they were either going out of business or just storing old stuff. My strongest point is that I wanted to buy some lighting and all they had was 2 mismatched T5 fixtures and a used LED unit that they wanted to charge more than I could buy it new. The only expanded clay they had was out of an old grow bed that they had dismantled. Anyway... a nice lady was working on a Sunday afternoon, and I bought a couple things out of obligation, but I wont be back since they didn't offer me anything that I can't get online (unfortunatly!)
