Joseph Ferris: Allstate Insurance

Before I purchased a new vehicle, I contacted my agency for a quote, telling them EXACTLY what the vehicle was that I was considering buying. The quote was emailed to me, telling me my insurance would increase by 70 dollars every 6 months. OK, that's fair. I had called the following Monday to give bank info of where I had gotten my auto loan through, and nothing was said about the increase for the new vehicle (which was traded in for the new one) so I asked just to make sure the old vehicle was removed and that the quote was at a 70 dollar increase every 6 months. I was then told that the increase would be 142 dollars every 6 months, since the new vehicle had "all the bells and whistles" as she put it. I reminded her that I had stated EXACTLY what the vehicle was, make, model, etc... and there were no added "extras" of any sort, and was told that's what my new premium would be, even though I had the original quote in writing. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. I have an EXCELLENT driving record, and have been driving for 45 years. I'll be shopping for a new agency.
