Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oxford, an IHG Hotel

Location was great. Near plenty of food options and only 2 miles from the square. Staff was very friendly. I stayed there for 3 1/2 weeks and is the place I like to go to when down in Oxford. Being an IHG rewards member definitely helps!

No one at the front desk upon arrival, had to shout to the back room to get someone's attention. Room smelled like mold, had several broken outlets and generally everything was quite worn. I've never seen a hotel with so few amenities - no bottled water, no market, just vending machines that only accept $1 bills. Feels like I'm staying a middle of nowhere motel in the late 90's.

I travel for work and decided to stay here a few days since there was a deal that was running with the third party my company uses to book travel. Room 216 (if I remember right, I was only there for 4 hours) and the tub was chipped away at the bottom and slightly rusted over. Not the best, but I could overlook. Got into bed and was falling asleep when I saw something move on the pillow next to me (a bedbug). Went to the front desk to ask for bags to put my stuff in (of course I had just put it all on the bed because I was just happy to not be on my feet or in my). She asked if I wanted to transfer to another room, I denied and she gave me several trash bags. Came back up to my room and there were bedbugs all over my bags on the other bed. Documented, killed the ones I saw, bagged up my stuff and checked out. Was able to get a refund although between the hotel/priceline/the third party company Im not sure who actually approved the refund because all 3 said I needed to contact someone else. Girl at the front desk suggested coming in to speak with her manager about the situation, and while I appreciated it, I just wanted to get back to the Hilton home suites I had previously stayed in by First Watch (which has 24 hour free laundry service).
Totally get that bed bugs can happen literally anywhere but still I wouldnt wish them on my worst enemy.
