Hoss's Market & Rotisserie

We just adored Hoss's, and the new owners of the renamed "Belly" (gross name) have updated the look for sure, but the food quality and choices have plummeted. VERY few menu options. All the fun wines and cheeses and spices and gifts and canned stuffs are gone. Old lunch favorites are gone (they claim they will still make them: why are they not on the menu, then??). And a couple of days ago was the last straw: my husband was eating his salad WHEN A BUG JUMPED OUT. He picked up the large piece of lettuce from which it appeared, and there was dirt all over it. And the seafood gumbo was NOT how it used to be -- had a weird fishy smell and milky and lukewarm. He got food poisoning -- I'll admit, there's no way to know for sure if it was at "Belly" -- but  sure seems a strange coincidence.We used to love it when it was Hoss's -- seems like now all they care about is catering.

Edit - as of Fall 2022, all the sauces, cheeses, spices, oils, were removed. It seems to have gone solely restaurant/catering. A shame. This is a gem of a restaurant and an amazing place to pick up sauces and other cooking supplies. Also, they cater. This is the one stop shop in Columbia for food for any occasion.

Update: Sadly, I have to revise my review. We loved Hosss, and the new owners have updated the look for sure, but the food quality and choices have plummeted. Very few menu options. Old favorites gone (they claim they will still make them: why are they not on the menu, then??). And a couple of days ago was the last straw: my husband was eating his salad WHEN A BUG JUMPED OUT. He got food poisoning the next day Ill admit, theres no way to know for sure if it was at Belly but sure seems a strange coincidence. My previous review: The old Hosss is now Bellys (an unpleasant name, but no one asked me). The food, however, is still great! Im a vegetarian, but they are happy to make changes for me. The Goat Cheese Salad is amazing! I love the Caprese Sandwich, when its available. The Pea Salad side is very tasty. My husband loves the other sandwiches and especially their soups. So far, so goodits only been a couple of weeks with the new owners.
