Damon Lang of Green Planet Landscaping & Pools designed our landscaping, pool, & spa.  His design was beautiful and my husband was excited to work with Damon on our "dream yard". Damon did mention that he had partnered up with Laguna Pools and Spa.  My husband took that to mean that he was in equal partnership with Laguna and our project would move forward under Damon's supervision.  Turns out, that was not the case. Damon spot checked a few times in the beginning of the project and again after we filled the pool (at our insistence!) because we were having so many problems with Laguna.  Damon did not intervene on our behalf when we had problems with Laguna.  He did not supervise the work.  We were disappointed in that and feel abandoned by him. So if you hire Damon, know that he mostly designs things to look pretty and not particularly functional nor practical.  Overall, the design of our yard turned out aesthetically beautiful.  But, getting from point A to point B was a huge hassle with Laguna (see my review on their page).  Still, there are several things he sold us on that does not function as he had described and now we will have to shell out even more money to get everything fixed.

Disappointing. About 4 years ago, we had a great initial meeting and plans were set to create some fabulous landscaping for our home. Sadly, we have noticed that the landscaping wasn't done very well. We asked for low maintenance and our landscaping has been anything but that. We are now cleaning and recreating a space that we thought would be good for years.

We hired Damon at Green Planet Landscaping in 2012 to design and build our yard.  We agreed upon the layout and we asked for engineering drawings.  We were given some city layout, which was far from engineering drawings and were told that's what they use and to "trust them".  Our project was a huge one and took more than 4 months to complete.  It included a pool, an outdoor kitchen with a pavilion, a kennel area and a large patio...with a lot of landscaping.  Many mishaps happened during this project and many of the final results were not satisfactory.  First, the outdoor kitchen and also fireplace were built under a large pavilion.  In the graphics Damon created, the 3 pillars across the back were to stand out from the areas between the pillars...it's all flat.  The arches under the pillars were not curved on the front and back as the sides, so it mismatched.  The fireplace was so tall that it reached the ceiling under the pavilion....not part of the plan.  The stairs that go into the pool were not dug back far enough to include all the steps into the pool, so they tried to cram them in the space they created and they were too steep....so they had to be redesigned in the small space rather than fixing the mess up they created and the steps went from straight to curved and look horrible in the modern design of the rest of the pool.  The plumbing to the sink in the outdoor kitchen wasn't done correctly and kinks or even sometimes just falls out so water either can't drain or just drains under the kitchen.  When the pavers of the patio were being put down betweeen the house and the pool, I told Damon's lead guy that the patio was sloping towards the house.  It was plain as day.  He told me not to worry, that they verify it's sloping towards the pool so that rainfall won't flood up next to the house.  Well, every time we get heavy rainfall, there's literally a river running up against the house, as it doesn't flow away from the house.  Before the pavers were put down, I asked that a weed barrier be put down so weeds didn't come up between the pavers.  They told us that they pack the dirt down so hard that weeds never grow up between the pavers.  We're constantly spraying the weeds in the pavers, all over the yard.  We had a large shed built during tthe construction and asked that the yard be leveled on the side in preparation for the shed.  They threw down some rock and said it was level.  Needless to say, there's a step down to get in the front door of the shed.  Not part of the design.  The design for some of the pool equipment that controls the in pool cleaning system were off to the side, but ended up being right in the grass area next to the walkway around the pool.  Oh, the in pool cleaning system...they didn't put in enough heads so there are spots where the dirt piles up and discolors the pool.  Finally, the landscaping that was put in had so many plant types in the wrong place in the yard; for example, plants that don't like the afternoon heat, were put in places where they would get all the afternoon sun...I would never recommend Damon and never have.  He only knows how to make pretty pictures with his draw program.  He has no clue about engineering drawings and can't get the job done correctly.  Also, if you put a review on his FB page that he doesn't like, he'll report you and have it removed, so stick with Yelp because it's an actual honest site for reviewing.
