My Dad was taken care of here, in the last year of his long life, for about a month and a half, while recovering from a broken arm. My experience, as a son helping his father, was very positive, as they seemed not to have all these small, ridiculous rules that is characteristic of many other elderly homes, or at least rather less of them. And what is critical, Woodlawn had people working there that truly cared for the patients, no question about it. (The latter form the foundation of all palliative care.) They are not at all so 'Ritzy', if you would forgive the expression, as some other places, and unlike some photos may suggest, as this was once an estate. Nonetheless there is a pleasant, almost collegial, atmosphere here. Everyone works hard, and is respectful to all others. When it came time for my Dad to leave, he was trying to figure out a plan to stay an extra day! Therefore, one of the brighter spots in my father's difficult last few years. (Passing shortly thereafter at 92.)
