Don’t be shy! Spend some money people. Rural America needs your support when you’re in their hospitality. Hatch has been through a lot and brings some of the greatest joy to visitors with their green chile and small town conviviality. Farming towns need your support.
Especially after being devastated by floods every ten years. Make the trip, enjoy the beautiful weather, talk to the farmers and business owners, and spend some cash.
It IS worth the trip to support a community such as Hatch.

Are you planning to be at the Chili Capital of the World? If you live close to Hatch, New Mexico, then driving and visiting the annual Hatch Chili Festival is okay. But if you live like three hours away or more, it may not be worth the trip.
Walking along the streets was eye-popping experience. I have never seen so many chilies displayed in one area, but in Hatch. There were small chilies, big chilies, and in various colors!

What a great day of fun. So much to see and taste! I love Hatch. This is my second visit and I know there will be more fun visits. After Hatch, a quick refreshment stop in the nearby town of Nutt. Then a little off the beaten path trip to Lake Valley Ghost Town. What a treat! A full day of fun and hardly spent any money. Highly recommended!
