Popular Bank

Yesterday I went to this bank and my card got stuck in the atm when I only wanted to make a deposit!

The business bankers at this bank are very unprofessional. I would not recommend opening an account here AT ALL. I went into the local branch today to open a Bank account and I guess they both missed the customer service part of their training. Its almost as if their job is not to open accounts, but to divert and send away customers. Before either one of them offered me a presentation on their banking products, or what they offered, and what the requirements were to open the bank account. They both took one look at me, didn't even say hello, and smugly asked "do you have all of your documents?" I asked "well what exactly is needed", and instead of assisting me, with the necessary information, they collectively did EVERYTHING they could to stop me from opening an account. COMPLETELY mis informing (lying to) me about the documents that were required to open an account. I had everything I needed, if they were even 1/2 as interested in assisting me they would have. I don't know if it was my race, my hijab or my old shoes :) , but Popular Bank profiled me, and FAILED miserably today. Go across the street to INVESTORS BANK the business bankers there ARE AMAZING!! Very helpful and informative. Even though they were closing in an hour, she smiled when I walked into her office, got up to greet me, and congratulated me on opening a new business. She gave me a package of information with the different business products they offered, as well as A LIST OF REQUIREMENTS, BEFORE asking me what I brought in today. They had a $1500.00 minimum to open an account, and their service showed me it would be worth it, to bank there. I opened my account in 1 hour, and was treated with so much respect to spite the color of my skin, and what I was wearing. It was only after I received her service, that I realized just how bad my service at popular bank was today. To the personal and business bankers at Popular Bank, you need to go across the street and take notes! It's no wonder they have been in the banking game so long, and other banks have surpassed them. To think I went out of my way today, to go to Popular bank, in an effort to support small banks at this time...and I was looked down on, SMH.

Well now I know why no one choose to go here. My brother for mother's day sent my mom a certified check from Puerto Rico from his account at Popular Bank paid the fees that are attached with a certified check. So we come to cash the check here at 66 Court Street now because my mom doesn't have an account herself with this back they were going to charge her a fee of $5 which whatever $5. It's just messed up since my brother already paid a $10 fee and has an account with them just so my mom won't have the fee but it's whatever. When one gets a certified check at a bank they can cash that check in there banks because it's a certified check from them right or so you would think. Not a 66 Court Street in order to cash a popular bank certified check in this branch you have to have an account for it to be deposited into. I think it's bad buissness for popular bank to charge it's clients a fee and then not allow for the checks to be cashed at their branches. Never coming here again what a waste.
