Bought a Groupon for a Christmas present. The address on it (and this website, I guess they moved offices) was wrong, thus the person I got it for got lost and was running late. Then when he called, the secretary had an attitude about rescheduling him for another day. Too late for a refund too. Not pleased.

Find another place to go!!  I initially went the first of the year for a cleaning and then to have a couple of cavities taken care of.  Very nice and informative female dentist and I left feeling good about using this practice.  All that changed when one of my old crowns came out.  I made an appointment for May 1.  When I went in the dentist, who was no longer the same dentist I had seen previously, convinced me that my tooth had 2 little soft spots and I needed to get them fixed and get a new crown.  The business office told me what my portion would be and I had to remind them that I should have a credit balance because when I got my fillings done I had overpaid my share and I was told that as soon my insurance paid I would receive a refund.  Since I had never received the refund I knew I should have a credit.  I made a down payment and the work was started.  The dental assistant was very rough but I tried to put up with it.  The temporary crown was put in and about 5 days later it came out.  I called to make an appointment to have it put back in and on May 10th I went back in the morning, the same rough assistant put it back in and it was back out by 6:00 the same evening.  I called and left a message that I was not happy and that I had never had this much trouble with a temporary crown before.  I was never called back so I called and left another message and decided to wait and see how long it would take before someone called me back.  Then to add insult to injury I received a statement that my insurance has a 6 month waiting period on major dental and they would pay nothing.  This left a balance of more than $400.  It was obvious to me the business office had not contacted my insurance company on May 1st. as they would have known about the waiting period and I would have just chosen to have the tooth removed.  I called to speak to the manager.  She was not available and I was given her email.  I sent her an email and she referred me to another regional manager who did in fact call me back.  This was the only positive customer service I received.  She agreed with me that it was their error and that I would not have to pay any additional amounts. She was also going to review my records to see what the dentist really did and was the new crown really needed.  All of this was still in May.  She also stated that she wanted to be in the office when I came in to get my crown.  I never went back to have the temp. put back in because the stump was giving me no problems.  I realized near the end of June that I had never gotten a call to tell me my crown was in so I called the office and found out it was there.  I told them before I scheduled my appt. that it needed to be a time that Patsy was available.  I asked them to check with her and see when she would be available.  July 11 was when we scheduled for.  When I arrived there today the same assistant called me back.  She asked if the temp was still in place and I told her no that it came out the same day she put it in the last time.  She then proceeded to "scold" me telling me that I was supposed to call to get it put back in.  I did get upset and pointed out to her that I had in fact called twice and no one had called me back.  Then I asked for Patsy and was informed she wasn't there.  Well needless to say that cemented my bad impression of this practice and how they function.  I was told she got "hung up" in a meeting.  I worked in healthcare for 34 years and this is not how you treat a patient.  I did get my crown put in and we will see if it lasts.  I cancelled my cleaning appt. for August and I will be looking for a new practice.

I am a UNC dental patient who missed two regular cleanings in the last 9 months.  When I received a coupon mailer listing "adult cleaning, exam and xrays for $139.00"I called and made an appointment.  I told the receptionist I did not need xrays and only wanted a cleaning and exam and she said "fine".  When I arrived  I was told I HAD to have X-rays or they would not see me.  I explained I was not looking to be a new patient; I only wanted my teeth cleaned.  They turned me away.  I have recently had X-rays and did not want further exposure.  Two receptionists were actually quite rude to me.  Cleaning of the teeth certainly does not require X-rays; so it was quite clear they were only interested in me as a potential new patient.  No thank you.
