Three Rivers Custom Decks

Last year, my wife and I decided to replace all five decks about 1500 square feet on our 40-year-old house. It was a complex project, because three of the decks are 20 to 30 feet off the ground, and scaffolding would be required to reach them. Jim Gates at Three Rivers worked with us to specify the design, materials and plan for the new decks, promptly and patiently responding to our numerous questions about materials and construction. We contacted some of the references Jim provided, and looked at several decks built by Three Rivers: all the due-diligence was very positive. Jim skillfully shepherded the project through the lengthy, complex permitting process, work started in early November 2021, and was completed by Christmas. There were no surprises, and the work was completed quickly, efficiently, accurately, and within the agreed budget. The crew Pancho, Justin, Edgar, Dave and Matt are consummate professionals and craftsmen: thorough, meticulous, precise and accurate. Their attention to detail is exceptional. Jim and Matt the project manager were very proactive about keeping us informed throughout the planning, permitting and construction process. The quality of the work is superb, and we are extremely pleased with the end result.

We wanted to share the great experience we had working with Three Rivers Decking . AJ and Dawson were the crew of two young men that showed up everyday. They were always on time, reliable, polite, hardworking and would always put in a full day of work ,with a brief break for lunch. They prepped the area for the new deck, with removal of our old hot tub as well as the wood from the old deck. They appeared to use precision in the construction and were usually careful to clean up as well as possible at the end of the work day. They were also respectful of us (and our neighbors and our sleeping grandsons nap time) for choosing music and the volume in which they played it. Had these guys come to give me a quote on some work. After their guy shows up I expected three days later to have a quote on a price for the work. After five days of waiting, instead of a quote on the price for services Jim just gave me a referral to his sub company because he assumed we couldn't afford to have him do our job and made that decision for us. It was a complete waste of time and I didn't appreciate the free judgement I received instead of the free quote I requested.

great communication, accurate quote, no surprises, showed up on time, three young guys removed our old 15x20 deck with one beam in 1/2 day and banged out a new 15x22 deck on two beams on a sloped lot in 2.5 more days and it's beautiful. Always great communication from them and from the office and the foreman who came by daily to make sure they were on track and had what they needed. All calls returned within an hour and emails and even texts returned within 1/2 day. This is how all business should be done.
