Free admission, open seasonally Apr-Oct, Thurs-Sun 9am-4pm. Also open by appointment for school groups. OPLI is a natural history and cultural learning center for John Day Basin Area. Short guided interpretive tour available by staff. Learn about Mitchell Plesiosaur, Metasequoia OR State Fossil, how to dig at Wheeler High School Fossil Beds, early pioneers of Wheeler County and more. Visitor information also available for day hikes, cycling trips, events and activities in John Day Basin Area. To learn about Visitor Center Host volunteer positions, contact the Center or visit their website for information.
