I drove my semi from the port of entry off I-84 and took the US 30 Business Route into the town of Huntington. It was around midnight at the time and I found ample parking. The Railroad has a wide lot on the north side of the street. I park my truck. It was very peaceful quiet and safe. I woke up in the morning and was quite surprised at the town setting. I walked across the street into Howells cafe. I was surprised to see a cafe in this small town but they had coffee and a bathroom next door to the cafe is a bar and I heard that it serves up good drinks and good times in the evening. So I got some coffee and order breakfast from the owner he was also cooking. So in the hay day this was once a busy little town next to the lake that offered up lot of fishing the railroad was part of the economy and also in nearby cement plants which is now scaled back quite a bit. The owner brought me my coffee and later my breakfast. It was an order of eggs toast hash browns and a very tasty chicken fried steak with homemade gravy I ate it and it was delicious.. cooked perfectly! I I drank some more coffee headed to the bathroom washed up a bit then I had to drive on down the road towards Portland Oregon chatted with the owner about this in that he told me a little bit history about the town it was a good feeling after I left my belly was full I will definitely stop by when I come through here again!
