I called Eric in November of 2019 to look at 2 Oak trees in my front yard that I was concerned about. They seemed to be losing their bark. Eric said he'd need to charge me $85, as I live in the Santiam Canyon and he's in Philomath. I agreed, and Eric came out. After looking the trees over, he said they were fine. On Labor Day, 2020, 10 months after Eric came out, my home and property were impacted by the devastating wildfires. In October, FEMA came out with an arborist to check my trees and see if any were "danger trees" due to the fire. Even though the 2 Oak trees were not burned, the arborist said the larger Oak had root rot, and showed me 2 areas at the base of the tree. He said the tree was a "danger tree" and needed to come down. He placed a red ribbon on it and spray painted an "X" on it. I emailed Eric to see if he'd come back out and look at the tree, at no charge. I was worried the tree was going to fall on my house and didn't need to worry about that on top of everything else. He agreed, and said there would be no charge. I told him I'd send photos. After I emailed Eric some photos, his attitude changed, and he said if every tree in Oregon was labeled a danger tree, we'd have no trees left. He kept stalling, and told me more than once to cut out the "fruiting bodies" with a sharp knife. After months of stalling, I asked him one more time if he'd come out to look at it, as I wasn't comfortable cutting into my tree. This was February 8, 2021. He emailed back and said that he'd come out, but his minimum charge was now $150. I told him to forget it, and said I feel like he's gouging a wildfire victim. Also, after checking the license number he has listed on his website for his landscape contractors license, the LCB said there is no record of that name or license number in their system.

ATS is a single person business - and he knows his stuff! He did a great job trimming back a very large Walnut tree that hangs over the property line and we discussed extensively how much to trim it back while keeping the tree healthy. He also provided extensive and useful information for salvaging an old apple tree. His price was reasonable and he took care to protect my garden areas.
