First time we ever elected to stay at a lodge after years of camping on our Rogue River float trips. Awfully sorry we didn't switch over to staying at Black Bar for all those earlier years. Most gracious hosts with incredible food and lots of it. Spacious cabins with a small but appreciated shower and toilet. A most relaxing lodge, grounds and atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

We stayed here about 4 years ago - it was great. A year ago we took a hiking trip of a large number of us 10+. It was terrible. We were an inconvenience to them. There were bat infestations in the walls of the cabins. We were kept up all night with chirping. They make it extremely difficult and act as if ferrying hikers across the river is some huge effort. It is unfortunate because it used to be a great trip...sad to see it only used as a rafting lodge.

Awesome service. Thanks John for sharing your 30 years of experience with me. That’s so cool your families has been running the lodge for 60 years. This lodge has it all. Hot showers, excellent meals, wonderful atmosphere and family like service.

It was a great place to stay for the night, especially if anyone in your group is freezing from an epic fail on Rainie Falls (class 5). Be sure to check if your cabin has a working pilot light for the heater in the bathroom. Do that for anyone with poor vision before leaving them on their own. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Electricity will be out from ten to six, and breakfast is at seven thirty. Dinner is also at half past seven (in the evening, of course).

Awesome stop on our river rafting trip. Only accessible by boat. Generators on at 5, off at 10. Deer all over the place.
