I highly recommend Dr. Stoner and his entire staff to everyone! They are a wonderful, warm, fun group of people who will make you feel right at home. I've been going to Advanced Family Eyecare for two years. I referred my daughter. She started going this year. She is very happy, more than satisfied and will continue getting eyecare here as well. Dr. Stoner is amazing! My entire life, I have never had such a patient, compassionate, thorough, knowledgeable, eyecare professional. He takes time to explain and actually has up to date technology, which let's you see the test results of your eyes on screen. I personally find it very helpful in understanding the condition of both eyes. I am so grateful and blessed to have found Dr. Stoner and I have made Advanced Family Eyecare my home.

I don't like leaving bad reviews, especially in a small town, but this experience was awful. I was quoted $99 for a contact exam prior to going in. I had to wait 15-20 minutes before I was even able to be seen by the assistant. Not a big deal, I understand delays. I stood up when the doctor and former patient came to the door, because the assistant called my name. Immediately, the doctor's eye's dropped to my backside, and I became uncomfortable. Granted, I will contend that I was wearing leggings since I was headed to the gym right after, but I still don't think this is excusable behavior in a doctor's office no matter what a patient is wearing. The assistant was great, very punctual, professional, and got her job done quickly. I then was shown to the back room and had to wait for the doctor for nearly 25 minutes while I listened to him talk to another patient about personal matters. This other patient was elderly, and probably appreciated the conversation, so I had no problem waiting. The doctor came into my exam room and tried making a few jokes, but they were brash and considering the event that had happened out front, I just wanted to leave. I feel like he picked up on my urgency, and he asked what my contact prescription was so he could just fill it the same as what it had been a year ago from a prior doctor, because "why fix what isn't broken". I can maybe understand this thinking - but perhaps you could at least check and make sure my eyes are healthy? However, I didn't say anything and told him I could get the prescription faxed over from my prior provider, and he said, "great, we'll do that", and seemed ready to send me out the door. At this point, I was flabbergasted because it seemed like this man was going to charge me $99 for an "exam" where he hadn't even touched the phoropter. I then said I might not have the boxes at home, or might not be able to get the prescription. He seemed annoyed at this, and said "okay, fine, we'll start from scratch then." Mind you, it had been maybe 10 minutes total we had been in there, and he had spent 25 minutes purely chatting with the patient prior. He grabs the phoropter, and gives one of the most sloppy exams I have ever had. He started the lenses at the prescription that I told him I had (despite saying I couldn't really remember), and the whole thing lasted maybe 5-10 minutes. Whatever the results were were wrong, because he gave me some trial contacts that were 0.5 off in the left eye. I said something about it, and he goes "that's fine". I thought to myself, "not really", but kept going. He then corrects for the inaccurate prescription in the left, but it still feels off and I say something about it. He goes, "well, that likely has to do with the base curve, which I can't calculate for, so when you get the old prescription faxed over, make sure they include the base curve." At this point, I'm wondering why he didn't check the base curve himself, and I'm absolutely floored over this whole thing. I will concede I am no optometrist, nor do I know if there were legitimate reasons why he did what he did. I also understand that sometimes, doctor's don't have the exact contact lenses you need in stock to give you for a trial. Regardless, I don't think a doctor should be taking the work of another doctor and signing his name on it as if he did it himself and charging the patient $99 for it. Nor do I think that they should be charging a patient $99 for a poor excuse of an eye exam just to use the prior doctors exam because they couldn't be bothered to do their own. Additionally, when they did fax over the same prescription to my former provider, because they had the contacts I needed in stock, they signed the doctor's name in the patient signature box. Very unprofessional. Again, I apologize for writing such a scathing review. But it's been a long time since I have had this poor of an experience at any business. For patients looking to potentially go to this doctor, I would recommend going elsewhere.
