Edit: response to owner below. Unless you are doing a very simple transaction, stay away. Tried to do a GCWR for a combination truck and trailer. Correct MV41 verified and signed by authorized inspection mechanic. The notary gave me a hard time and tried to tell me my truck couldn't tow that much. Then the excuse was it should only be 15 or 16k. She did not know the difference between GVWR and GCWR. It is not her job to tell me what my truck can or can not tow or what the GVWR should be. The inspection mechanic would not have signed off on the weight rating unless it was within the vehicle manufacturers factory ratings. This is a 1 ton diesel truck and it is well within limits. This was a complete waste of my time. Edit: The truck is rated to tow 16,000 pounds. We are doing a gross combined weight rating verification. The trailer is a 14,000 pound rated trailer. If we do the math, that's higher than 26,000 pounds as per the manufacturer of my truck in the owner's manuel. Some trucks that are newer than mine are rated as high as 40,000 lb gross combined weight rating. Once again, an inspection mechanic has signed off on the combination weight rating, we are not increasing the weight rating of any individual item we're just registering those two items together, that's why they call it combined. If you would like to call PennDOT to verify that they will be glad to tell you that you are wrong. As I stated before, I have done many of these at several different notaries with different vehicles and never had an issue. Let's also just clarify that the inspection mechanic signed off as a verification of weight rating. It is really unbelievable that you can maintain a notary license. Also, you did not offend me. You frustrated me by the inconvenience of you not knowing how to do your job.
