My son Ian has attended the JPGA summer program for 2 years now and absolutely loves it. What a great way for a kid to get away, learn and grow both as a individual and as golfer in a beautiful and safe environment. The experience is confidence building both physically and emotionally. Thank you JPGA!

I have never written a review for an employer before, but my experience working for JPGA was so horrible that now I am writing my first review. When I was interviewed for the position and told about the job requirements in August, I was excited at the idea of not having to pay rent, utilities, or food expense. What I did not know was no houseparent has worked for JPGA for a full year. I left after about 3 weeks on the job, and by October, all my coworkers who were houseparents had also left. The biggest issue I had with this company was after I had accepted the job and moved in, the job description changed dramatically. Instead of the CEO Keith listening to our frustrations, I am told he shouted, "WELL, that's the job description now!" I will list off the items I felt deceived about.1) Deep cleaning. I was told it was my duty to clean the common areas, meaning the kitchen and living room, and there would be a cleaning service to visit the house twice a month to deep clean at minimum the bathrooms, if not the whole house. Later, I was told that the house parent was to clean the whole house, including 5 bathrooms, for no extra pay.2) Trash day. My day was Thursday, and because the dump is closed on Wednesdays, I was literally hauling 15-20 bags of trash plus boxes and recycling goods to the dump. I did not accept this job to be a trash man. Also, the vehicle used to transport trash had weird water leaks that made the van moldy, nasty, and at one point, maggot-infested.3) Pay. I was supposed to receive my first check via direct deposit on August 21. I had turned in my direct deposit info from my bank when I accepted the job. I did not receive my check until September. Keith literally said to me, "I don't know what happened because I did everything right on my side". So much for an apology. Also, one of the other house parents, when she finally got fed up and left, never received her last check. They told her the house was messy when she left (please refer to number 1 above). Now it is two months later and they still have refused to send her her last check.4) No time off. And I mean, NO time off. I was told that I would be free while the kids were in school and golfing unless it was my day on call. What I didn't realize is you get literally no time off. The month I worked there I didn't have a day off. Even if you are not on call, you are supposed to let people know when you are leaving campus. And on the weekend, if you aren't on call, you are still supposed to manage the kids in the house.5) Food. I was told to make healthy meals for the kids, which I was doing. Then I was told everything needed to be cooked from scratch.6) The students' responsibilities. When I interviewed I was told the students have certain cleanliness responsibilities such as picking up their clothes, throwing away trash, etc. For some reason the boys in my house would not throw anything away. It drove me crazy. I had bought small individual sized snacks and they would eat the snack and leave the packages on the kitchen counter or floor. After about 2 weeks of constantly cleaning behind them, I got fed up and stopped throwing things out. When the kids would come back I would say who left this here? What about this? Well, a mom of one of the kids decided to come by whenever she wanted and rat me out to the administration for not having a clean house and for serving processed food. It gets better though---I had been told that if the kids leave their room a mess they don't get to play golf that day until they clean it. In actuality I was eventually told I was to go behind them and do any cleaning they didn't do, because if a potential parent and student wanted a tour, my house was always supposed to be 100% ready to show.7) They refused to give me check stubs. I had to go to my bank to get copies of the checks.8) They will blindside you terminating at any point. They will interview people for your position without your knowledge. I know this because I interviewed twice, and the first time they told me they were looking to replace someone who just wasn't working out, but she wasn't aware she was going to be terminated. No job security!I hope this review gives insight into what it is really like working for JPGA. I am posting this on Halloween and all 4 of the house parents who started when I did in August have now left. If it were possible to give negative stars I would do that.
