I'm an oil field worker and I had to stay here for over a month. I stayed for so long only because it had the cheapest rates in town, at that time.
For the first several days, my television only had the first 20 channels on it. There was no way to access the menu and program more with the universal remote they had it paired with. The TV was an old CRT, 37" or so. After several complaints the manager brought in a television that was half the size, but had all the channels. It was also a CRT.I gave him a look letting him know I knew I was getting shafted on the TV deal, but he pretended not to notice. I did see some rooms had flat panels.
They have a moderately sized room with a morning breakfast. The waffle batter and iron you can make yourself are incredibly good. They also have OJ, milk, toast, cereal, pastries and the like. As well as a large nice television to watch if you choose to dine there at one of three or four tables.
The bathroom always had hot water and the water pressure was good.
The bed, according to guests, was very uncomfortable. I can sleep on a bed of skulls like a baby, so I didn't notice. The cover blanket was of very low quality and the sheets weren't much better.
This is an oil field town, and there is a bar less than a block away, so at nights on the weekend it can get a little louder than during the week. A lot of Latinos grilling fajitas and peacefully drinking, Oil Rig Hands grilling steaks and rowdily peacefully drinking outside.
It's also a motorcycle friendly town so occasionally a montage of bikers will roll through. They are usually quieter than the oil field workers.
The manager that runs the place is pretty friendly, if not occasionally slightly awkward and hard to understand. He is an Indian, I believe. He is a shrewd business man, and there are no refunds or discounts, I learned.
Bottom Line is, I've seen a whole lot worse. If you can afford to go elsewhere in town (I liked the Econolodge up the street, and it still had value) you might want to. If you're on a budget, you can't beat this joint in this overpriced town. Don't forget to try the waffles. That's really almost worth the stay.
