Kirkside Motor Lodge

I was just thinking of next summer and staying here again, and was surprised to see less than stellar remarks. I thought the gentleman who ran the motel was very personable and helpful. I thought the rooms were perfect like home, and clean as well as comfortable. I don't want the big chain plastic experience when I come to Vermont. This is just what I want. We'll stay again this summer!

I used to stay at the Kirkside Motel from 1976 to around 2003. I would always come from NJ for Thanksgiving to see my mom and my cousin. My cousins wife worked there as a cleaning maid and always did a good job. This was years ago when the previous owner owned it. It was good thern. I thought everythng would be the same after the previous owner sold the motel. After the new owner took over, I stayed at one of those newer rooms (corner rooms) closest to the road where you can see the gas station & deli across the street. In the room was one of those chairs where the chairs material hangs down to the floor (like 1/2 curtains) all around the chair. I went to move the chair and discovered moldy potatoe chips under the chair. They must have been there for months because of the mold. I said WOW! I figured they do not vacuum there so I wondered if they vacuum under the bed. WOW again! Not only were there more mold but a lot of dust, a ball, papers, & a bed frame. I figured that is a real low life way to hide extra bed parts! Right under a bed that is meant for the customer. When I saw the metal bed frame under there, I figured this is why they do not vacuum under the bed. The frame is in the way. I think the room number was 122 or 124. I never stayed there again. When I checked out, I asked the owner if my cousins wife still works here. He said no. I wouldnt be staying there again.
