Oaks brothers has recently become an ace hardware and it seems that that has changed the bottom line at Oakes. Though Oakes is the only building supply company locally to all the towns surrounding Bradford they have used this to change their prices significantly. Recently ran in to grab a lock hasp hard to walkout of there with anything it seems without spending the better part of $20. They are generally 4 times the price of Home Depot in Lebanon New Hampshire which is 49 miles from where my business operates. So considering gas prices the choice for a small item finds itself with Oakes building supply in Bradford Vermont. Every time I need something small and in a reasonable amount of time it is still hard not to choose Home Depot for their prices are lower their customer service is well informed helpful and accurate. I can not say the same for Oakes. It was a hard earned three stars and that was mainly for having a product I need. My dollar spent supports the price hikes at Oakes as ace building supply so I have been trying not to spend my money there.
