I would like to say that this school is the real deal! This truly is authentic Okinawan Karate at its best! I have never been more pleased with learning real karate from an excellent instructor - Roberto Shidokan! I only wish I had more time to attend class on a regular schedule, but, I'm working on that. I miss the practice, the instruction and the wonderful karate-ka in the dojo. I encourage anyone who's interested in real karate to come and visit 6416 Grovedale Dr, Alexandria, VA 22310. Believe me, you won't regret it.

I’ve been to other martial arts training in the area and this is by far the best experience I’ve had. The teaching style is laid back and the students help each other as a collective. The focus is on practical application and this is not your typical dojo experience. Everyone is friendly and Sensei sets the example. I have learned more here in a short time than I did in 2 years at another dojo. I highly recommend Alexandria Karate Dojo. Maybe you are older like me and this is something you’ve always wanted to try. This is the place to start. Don’t waste your time and money at other places in northern Virginia. Finally, I’ve had some issues with lower back pain and this training has helped. Due to the movements my lower back feels better than it has in years. Great teacher, great style, great environment. I have found a home at Alexandria Karate Dojo. The people are warm and welcoming, really like a family. I am challenged to progress and supported along the way. I have fallen in love with karate and all it has to offer me. One of the best decisions I've ever made!
