Commercial Driver School

I had an excellent experience here, from start to finish. I took the night class with John and Cameron as instructors and they were both instrumental in my success! I got through this class first try and I know that with their help, anyone could. Since they help you get your permit AND your license, it really feels like you get the most out of your classroom time before moving on to driving practice. I can wholeheartedly recommend this school for anyone, with or without previous driving experience.

CDS was amazing from the calling to just get some info all the way to the first day of class to my last day. John was the night class instructor and he was great! Will be recommending the Lakewood location to any who ask about it just because my experience was top notch.

I just want to say thank you to the amazing team at the CDS Lakewood campus! I just completed my Class A CDL course on Friday and was able to pass my skills test and get my CDL just a few days later. From the moment I originally walked in the door to get information, I was met with open arms by Madison. Even though they were about to close, she took the time to give me all the information I needed and answered all of my questions. This campus has an amazing front office staff! Angela, Shanna, and especially Dawn were absolutely professional every time I went into the office. The instructors are probably the best around. Under the leadership of Darrell, they have a way of making you comfortable while explaining the seriousness of this new career path. I spent the first week in the classroom with Mike. He provided great instruction which allowed me to pass my written permit test on the first try. I also passed the tests for the doubles/triples and tanker endorsements at the same time. During yard week, I first drove with David. He was very patient and had the ability to make you feel calm. Great person to start with for your first day! I then drove with Chris. Very calm as well but he challenged me. His attention to every detail was astounding. I finished off the week with Jerre and I drove with him during the entire 3rd week as well. Jerre is the reason I passed my skills test on the first try. He can be strict but he has the ability to point out your faults and make you learn from your mistakes. That's the kind of trainer you need. He knows how to prepare you for the skills test. Very knowledgeable about the trucking industry and how to be a professional and safe driver. Special thanks to Jerre! I didn't get to drive with Rodney but he did give me some excellent pointers on how to complete my backing maneuvers. Lastly, I want to give some credit to Cameron. He took me on my final "check drive" before my skills test and in those 30 minutes, he taught me a few more things that I didn't know. He also has some great techniques on how to remember the pre trip inspections. All of these instructors are amazing and will have your best interest at heart. It's up to us as students to put the effort in and study hard. Four weeks go by fast and there is so much to learn but it can be done as long as you stay committed and determined to pass. I'm sorry I'm leaving WA state in a few months but I know this team will always be there if I need help in the future. Give this team a chance and you won't regret it! Had a great time attending at this campus. My in class instructor taught me everything I needed for my permit test, and my driving instructor Cameron taught me extremely well. I received 100% on both my permit and drive test.
