Good Family place wish it was still open but the new owners turned it in to a cabin I hope they build a new one

The lake is beautiful and the fishing is fun... I have yet to catch a fish, but I get little of bites... It is my favorite lake ro fish... I go almost daily!!!

I am a single Grandma raising 6 young Grandchildren, by myself. I was taking my 3 youngest boys fishing at Newman Lake for the first time. We stopped at this resort and the store was closed. I called the phone number scribbled on a sign in the front to make sure it was ok to go in and fish on the dock. The manager answered and said we could fish for free (normally $5) because my late Husband was in the military. Also told us that we could fish anywhere except beyond the gate. The kids had a great time catching blue gill and small bass. I felt very uneasy from the time we walked into the park. Kind of like the hair standing up on the back of my neck and butterflies. Like people were looking at us hatefully, that were camped there. Most were big fancy motorhomes. My Grandchildren are 1/2 African American. I never want to think that people are being hateful because of that. I rarely even consider that anyone would feel hateful toward another person because of the color of their skin. I think that this may have been the case. Later the manager that I talked to on the phone, came staggering into the park, beer in hand...stone cold stupid drunk! He said we needed to come up with that 5 bucks that we owed and it was time for us to leave! I reminded him of our conversation earlier and that he had told us we could come in for free. He said that "You will leave when I tell you to leave" I said that we are getting our things together and then we would be out of there! We walked up to our van and proceeded to put our things into the car to leave. The other manager (Kim) came out of their trailer and told us that we needed to find a different place to hang out for the Summer. I asked "Why"? She said that "she wasnt gonna let anyone be rude to her old man like we were" I told her that we hadnt been rude at all! Kim was in her bath robe, socks and a neck brace. We left! We may or may not be back just for GP! BTW the lake was filthy and smelled horrible. There was a dead goose in the boat launch! The entire park was old and run down, poorly maintained. Half the dock was under the water. I am truly amazed that anyone with any intelligence at all would stay at this resort. Well, I guess I just made this plain as day to myself. People who are racist are not known to have any intelligence. I forgive you folks, but I suspect that Miss Karma will catch up with you sooner or later!
