After being disappointed with how impersonal my care with my OB was, I switched to seeing Rachael at 11 weeks. I immediately felt comfortable and heard. While I saw Rachael for my prenatal care, I planned for a hospital birth, and the transition from Rachaels care to Tacoma General was smooth and stress free. I recommend her to anyone!

This review is so overdue, but I just couldnt find words that seemed good enough to encompass all that Rachael and New day midwifery is. The short version: Rachael is a compassionate, caring, and trustworthy provider. I felt informed and prepared (as much as one can be) with all three of my pregnancies/birth with her, and am so grateful to have found her when I did! The longer version: My husband and I moved to the state when I was 30+ weeks pregnant and I stressed about finding a new provider. The birth center was not taking new patients, and then I found Rachael and had a quick consult over the phone. She told me not to stress about it and that it would all work out. And it did! I came from an OB provider in a different state, and while they were fine, I always had to wait for 30+ minutes to see a provider for 10 minutes. With Rachael, it wasnt rushed, and I felt like she prepared us a little each visit for the birth and for life with a newborn. During the birth, she gave us space to labor comfortably, while also monitoring often enough. There were times when I said I wanted to be done, to go to the hospital, but she knew I was close and could do it. She provided newborn care on the bed next to us. She answered all of our worried text messages once we were home with our newborn. I was so excited to be able to see Rachael for an entire pregnancy, birth and postpartum with our second child. We were nervous about a home birth, but trusted Rachael. Each visit felt like a visit with a friend, with time for any questions or concerns we had. At 36 weeks there was a home visit to plan/ prepare for where the birth was happening and to walk through the set up. The time for birth came, and again, she gave us space to labor while also monitoring. It was a wonderful birth. Rachael came to visit us for our first couple of checkups and answered and helped with any questions or concerns we had. And then it came time for a third and final pregnancy. I was happy that after the first couple of appointments, I got to see her in her office, rather than virtually. She took Covid precautions seriously and I felt safe going into her office. Every appointment felt like sitting down with a friend again, and talking about life and preparing for our next little one. She warned us that sometimes with the third child, labor would start and stop a few times before actually happening. And I felt grateful that she warned us because thats exactly how it happened. She came when we felt we were ready for her to come. Things happened quickly and she got set up and brought all her equipment in. I asked for a couple of interventions and she trusted me with my body to make those decisions (since it was very similar to my previous two births). Rachael is a beautiful, calming presence in labor, and I am so thankful to have had her step into our life for these precious moments in time. I was so sad to say goodbye at my last visit. She is such a wonderful provider in this community and if you are even thinking about an out of hospital birth give her a call and ask all the questions!

Words are not enough to tell what a midwife like this means to my birth experience and how it has positively affected my life. She is patient and lovely and kind and encouraging and professional and personal and friendly and caring and available and real. It's unbelievable but it's real.

Where to start... If I could give Racheal an extra star, I certainly would! As a doula I have attended many births with Rachael over the years. I am always excited when my clients choose to work with her because I know that they will get excellent care throughout their journey of becoming a parent and beyond! Racheal is extremely skilled as a midwife and her birth families adore her! She as a huge heart is passionate about empowering her birth families and isn't shy to go the extra mile! I also love that Rachael attends VBACs and does some collaborative care with some hospital providers. She is always on top of things and usually gets quickly back to her clients. Tip: Make sure to contact Rachael early since she is very popular!
