I wish I could give 10 stars ! My son who completed Kumon reading program, and going to complete math program in couple of months! Kumon program is not only about academic BUT it teaches child how to stay organized which help them in their personal best! I know this Kumon center Director and staff since 2009, and I can say they are THE BEST!

I was an adult learner for some 5 years at Kumon of Redmond. I would be willing to talk to anyone interested in the Kumon method and the Redmond center. My experience was not unlike that of the author of The Perfect Score Project, a book I highly recommend and can readily relate to. My time with Kumon of Redmond was entirely positive and very productive. Regrettably, I needed to leave due to a variable work schedule. I work as a science technician, specifically a weather forecaster. For years since leaving school I had experienced a sense that something had been missing not only from my earlier math education, but my relationship with math itself. I looked at some other forms of math centers and their educational methodologies. What they all seemed to have in common was reliance on tutors and computers. Kumon was different. It emphasized the student spending time with the material, with pencil and paper and with minimal assistance, learning how to learn and teach oneself, and become ones own teacher. There is folklore in Western society about math. That some people are just naturally good at learning math, and some are not. Kids are actually very smart. Like anyone else, they will not bother to put effort into something they cannot hope to improve. The unspoken truth about learning is this: people do not rise to the level of their actual abilities; rather, they rise to the level of what they unconsciously think they are allowed to achieve. The power of Kumon is that it smashes through this myth. A key core principle of Kumon is protecting and nurturing the powerful, latent ability to learn within every student. The most important thing a student can do while in Kumon is to persist with the process. However imperfectly, even if not entirely consistent, those involved in this process experience an ever growing sense of confidence and empowerment. They gain insight into how they can best learn for themselves, how their own mind works. Kumon teaches powerful life lessons. It demands taking ownership of your efforts, encourages persistence and accountability, all qualities every parent yearns to see in their children. Kumon takes the long term approach and seeks to permanently fix the weaknesses in a childs math education. If a parent is looking for some help for a few weeks or months in order to better a childs grades, look elsewhere. Kumons goal is to set children up for success in life, not just math and reading. My experience with Kumon has left me with a strong sense of confidence and ability, that I will be able to handle any future academic challenges. I am forever grateful to Denise and her staff for all the assistance they have given me. All of my interactions were completely professional and respectful. There was always concern for every students progress and welfare. For them, Kumon is a calling. It seems like they almost live at the center! What they do changes lives. Denise and her staff offer more than just a wonderful service. For me, they will always be my friends. - Steve Maiers, March 2019
