It was a great place to move in, but after dealing with 'The worst management ever ' I have changed my mind. please consider rent someplace else!

I really enjoy living at Spruce West Seattle! I moved here from Santa Fe for work, and Tatijana was very helpful during the entire process. She went above and beyond to make my move-in as stress free as possible, and I couldn’t have asked for a better leasing agent! I rented sight unseen, and I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived after a 23 hour drive from New Mexico. The unit itself is wonderful—quiet, nice fixtures and appliances, and a good view. On top of that, the complex has a game room, theater room, gym, patio, and common room with a kitchen and several TVs. These extras will be useful when family or friends visit. Spruce is across the street from Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. QFC and Safeway are a stone’s throw away, too, which makes car-free living easy. The bus stop to go downtown (C-line, 55, etc.) is also right across the street, so the commute to work is only about 30 minutes. Great location! All in all, I’ve been living here about a month now, and I have no complaints. I’m glad I found Spruce!

Honestly. I have moved and lived in so many places. However my application experience at Spruce has been by far the most disappointing. I applied for an MFTE apartment on April 5th and put down a $500 holding deposit that would turn into my security deposit. I was so excited to live in the community. The apartments are nice and Tatijana one of the staff members was also very nice. I can not fault that at all. It took them over 10 days to get back to me. 10 days. I reached after 10 days because it was the beginning of quarantine. I understood that maybe things are not normal. But 10 days? It was like I did not even matter. The staff don’t care and neither do the managers. I was accepted into the building but I did not qualify for the MFTE as I made just over the threshold. So the $500 deposit was to be returned to me within 21 days from April 22nd. It is now June 17th. Almost two full months and I have still now received my deposit. First they sent it to the wrong address which could be forgivable but now? They don’t care about people. They do not care that it is a pandemic. They do not care. Everyone is just a dollar sign to them clearly. Jamie and Owen the managers are terrible and do not care. This review is for the people who are trying for the MFTE program or think they might not be approved in general. We are a group of people who need to look out for each other. There are other great apartments, I would recommend not applying to this one as you may never receive your deposit back even if legally are entitled to it. $500 is not a little amount. Not all of us would be so lucky another $500 to put down on another apartment. Especially during these times. I have waited because I did not want to get to the point of the BBB or a lawyer but I have not other choice. Please for your own sake, look elsewhere. I wouldn’t wish my experience on my worst enemy. Jamie the manager doesn’t care about you if you make under $57,000. Find a place that will treat you like a person.

I’ve been waiting to write this review until after I moved out to share an unbiased review. When I was first considering apartments in West Seattle, I checked out Spruce on a whim - and loved how welcoming and unpretentious the community was! 🙂 The apartments are brightly lit and spacious. The apartment premises itself was very clean and well-maintained. The leasing agency and maintenance staff were always responsive, helpful and friendly. I loved the community web portal - a great way to connect with neighbors. And the location!! A stone throw away from the bus lines, great grocery stores, YMCA. This place has everything going for it! Once I moved out of West Seattle due to the bridge closure, I couldn’t help but reiterate to myself how pampered I was in Spruce! 🙂 Right from my first tour to my move out experience - everything was a 5-star experience. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this community!
