When I finally got a hold of someone, I received very good information and procedural advice. When it came to my hearing, I felt under represented. My attorney listened a lot and talked very little on my behalf. He was most unpleasant after I told him what I thought of his representation. Then it occurred to me you get what you pay for and his services were pro Bono. Another life lesson...

This place is worth a try if you're having to fight for unemployment benefits that are due to you for legitimate reasons. One thing to note is that they are extremely backlogged, so will not attend to your case until very close to the hearing date, and the time it takes for WA State UE to send information to OAH takes longer than normal due to the pandemic. It took a lot of persistence to get through and finally reach someone at the organization, and schedule my intake. I had an hour intake in which I described my case, then afterward they provided follow up with an assigned attorney. My attorney was sharp and helpful, but also realize they are doing this work for free, so you are at the bottom of their priority list. I had a somewhat complicated case, and had to be very vocal, persistent, and proactive about getting the information to the attorney. In one instance I was called by the attorney the night before the hearing and it was clear the information I previously provided had not been read thoroughly. I was patient however, and worked with them realizing this is time they are working for free. The lawyer was helpful in each phase of the process, and helped me understand the best route forward in my defense. I ended up winning the case and was paid the additional amount owed by unemployment, and did not have to pay back the 6 month's worth of unemployment already paid. This was a total lifesaver, and I couldn't be more thankful or appreciative or her work (the attorney). If you are organized in your defense and have a just cause against your employer, this is well worth it. My only hesitation is that it is difficult to get a hold of this organization, and legally you do have to do a lot of the heavy lifting yourself (obviously) as this is a free service. Be prepared to help your assigned lawyer as much as possible, and meet them where they stand. Don't come into this with a bad case, or expect the lawyers to do the work for you. They are there for guidance, representation, and advice and not much more as they are doing this for free. If you do win your case, please donate to this organization.
