Had my car for five months for a big engine repair job. For five months I called them weekly and got no updates. When I finally got my car back, the transmission was hooked up incorrectly--shifting Drive mapped to 3rd, Third to second, etc. They also evidently forgot to completely screw in my oil drain plug.... Six days later my engine seized on the freeway. Matt Abel refused to honor his "warranty" for "five years, 50k miles labor" on the fix. I'm now out four grand and my car is completely totaled with mold and water damage growing all over my interior. They *may* be able to fix your car. I'll never give them another chance to do so.

Not the place you like to get your engine touched. Have NO CLUE what they are doing! Installed 2 exhaust guides to cylinder one and installed two intake valves to cylinder two. Owner still argues that job is completed right. I am glad I caught before installing all engine together (would have been a catastrophic failure) Takes forever to do the job and STILL wrong at the end go figure~! If your project can wait for months to get done, if you dont mind paying expensive bills, you don't mind redo the job over and over, like to visit Dave once in a while, and listen his meaningless stuff go for this is the place for you.Otherwise this place can be described as: The best place get RIPPED OFF!!!

I had my Chevy 454 big block rebuilt by Matthew Able, who rents a shop there. He sold me on him being the best and the fairest most honest mechanic around. He took out my motor on January 19th 2013 and I gave him half the money for the repairs and told me it would be about two weeks to complete the job, barring any unforseen problems. A week later he said the crankshaft was toast, a cylinder, and the intake manifold needed replacing. I gave him the cash for the parts, then I don't hear from him for over a month.....then after numerous calls he says his wife is sick, then a month later he was sick this time, but he says the engine is done. Now it's the first of May and I have not heard from him, unfortunately it's time to take the legal route, wish me luck.

I was just taken for a ride. I had Lake City Auto Care rebuild my motor on my 1985 SUV and spent nearly $5K by the time it was all done. They had my vehicle for over a month and told me multiple times that "it will be done today". I even went down to assist them in the proper placement of parts on the engine, which is pretty sad. After finally telling me to "come down it is done", I looked at the motor and noticed several things were missing from it and just sitting in the back of the vehicle. These were not minor things either. One was a bracket for the power steering pump. Imagine if the pump had failed because of it, going down the highway at 70mph. One of the most irritating things was the battery, which they ruined and told me I needed a new one because mine was too old. However, my "too old" battery worked just fine prior to bringing it too them. (They didn't accept the fact that they left it out in the parking lot for two weeks in Seattle rain as one of the reasons for its failure.) Too make a long story short, my motor is a very simple one, a 22RE which is a 4 Cyl and it has very little electronics. Granted the motor was torn apart before they got it, but all of the parts were labeled and organized, which they all complimented me on. In addition, I have rebuilt a different 22RE in much worse state than what this one was, with little to no problem. The parts on that one were not labeled or organized and I am not even a professional mechanic. In their defense, they said to "bring it back down with a list and we will fix it." However, my battery is toast and upon mentioning that to them, the told me they could sell me a new one. Also, why should I have to make a list of things they should have done in the first place! I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
