Contacted Mountaineer Maintenance about putting a new roof on our house. We had a leak near a sky light and wanted to see what our options are. Patrick came and looked at the damage and gave us an options. So far so good. We picked out an option and we signed the contract on 7/30/19 after seeing the insurance and business documents for their business. We paid $3500 for supplies to begin the project and gave this business $4000 up front to start the project. Then it started to go downhill. After finding the leak and tearing shingles off and sheeting exposed, we found out they didn't have a contractors license just the business license. They assured me they are scheduled for the test in Charleston but the date kept changing for that test. My guess, they never scheduled it just told me what I wanted to hear. So while they are getting ready for this test, my roof is exposed and covered with a tarp. Stayed like this for over a month. Kept in contact asking when this is going to be taken care of so our roof isn't exposed. The date kept changing for the test so they showed up on a Saturday and said they are just going to start. I would not allow them to work on my house without that license and informed them that we have contacted another contractor and they will be taking care of it. We gave Mountaineer Maintenance $4000 to start but the only thing that happened was a dumpster (which was barely used) and a few hours of labor, which I was more than happy to pay for since they did do some work. We both decided that $4000 was too much of a payment for the little work that was done. We agreed on a dollar amount that they would pay back to us. After asking about payment numerous times, we never got our money back. We ended up filing a police report so it was on record. They didn't have amount they owed us so THEY put a payment plan together and I agreed to the terms. Since a police report was filed, a detective contacted them and Patrick told the detective we have a payment plan in place and it should be fine. Which is absolutely true but we only received the first payment of six on October 3rd and haven't received one after that. I messaged them every week asking about the payment and most of the time I never got a response or received an excuse. Haven't gotten a response with the last three messages I have left. Needless to say, we have to file papers for a small claims case.

Absolutely destroyed my home. 40 days and 27k and the house is worse than when I bought it. Did not pay his employees. He stole my drills I let them use and many other tools. Do not hire.!

Most disgusting job of replacing bathroom tiles. Refuse to make good. Took elderly people’s money before job saying they had to buy supplies.
