Mad River Boat Trips

Horrible customer service. On a Thursday, I booked a rapids trip for 2 for the following day. I was never told of any cancellation policy. I called the next morning to cancel my trip (we did not pack appropriately for such an excursion) and I was told they would not provide a refund since I was cancelling within the 48 window, How could I cancel within the window when I only booked 15 hours before? When I booked, the representative DID NOT say it was non-refundable. She DID say I would receive a confirmation e-mail (I didn't). I called and spoke to various managers and it was clear they were would not refund my money. I asked if they would apply my money to the river float trip and they said they would discount that trip 50%. I then confirmed my understanding( "You will keep my money for the rapids trip ($184) and then take more money from me for another option? ) My understanding was accurate. This is throwing good money after bad. A company with decent customer service, in this situation , would have applied my $184 to the other trip. I understand the necessity of their cancellation policy . As a business owner/manager, I wouldn't want to have customers book trips, potentially blocking others from making a reservation since seating is limited, and then cancelling at the last minute and leaving empty seats. However, in this situation, I was a late booking ,was not informed of the cancelation policy nor did I receive an e-mail confirmation, and I called to cancel as soon as the enterprise opened after making the reservation late day prior - in other words, I was not blocking seats for weeks and then cancelling. Such a fun trip! The guides are knowledgeable and really kind. Would definitely recommend for any beginner/intermediate rafters!
