image To whom this may concern:
I have been a tenet at your facility (North Point Apartments) for over serval years, and the treatment that I have endured as a hardworking man is beyond me. I have reached out to the property manager (Rosey) and to my surprise I was retaliated on. With treats of eviction and credit reporting. I am a 65-year-old black man with underline health problems, that may not seem like much to many, but to my daughter and my grand kids that is a scary thing. Especially when the thought of living in a below code standard environment. The first thing I would like to address is the guest policy. Next would be the living conditions of the apartment, last would be the feedback (retaliation) that occurred.
Back in Nov of 2023 right before thanksgiving, my daughter came to see me along with her was my grandkids. I dont see my kids to often because of the distance from ATL to Gainesville. Mind you, I do know the policy for extended guest. But they were not extended guest, they were visiting for the holiday and ended up spending a night. My grandkids are teenager and know how to conduct themselves in a controlled environment. I called it controlled due to the fact that it is an apartment and rules are rules. There have been no noise complaint no police called and no overextended guest stay.
Next, I would like to address the living conditions, when I first moved into this apartment the please was great. There were minor maintenance issues, but nothing I myself being a handy man couldnt handle. Right after thanksgiving the ac/heat unit went out, I have sent in request orders and verbally brought it to the property manager attention on many occasions. It is now Jan of 2024 I have suffered through the blistering cold weather, extremely low temperatures. By law If you have no functioning heat, you can contact Code Enforcement in your city/town. GA Landlords are Required to provide Some type of heat source.
There was none provided.
Retaliation, due to my family coming to visit me, I was told that I was not allowed to have house guest, I was also advised of an eviction that would take place if I was to have anymore guest. When brought it to the property manager attention that my heating was out I was told that they would not be fixing anything until I vacate the premises. Mind you the weather in GA thus far has been beyond unbearable and as an elderly man I feel my health is now being affected. I am now being forced to move, forced to rent a U-Haul, rent a storage and sleep in my car.
I will be sending this letter to the Georgia maintains the code enforcement division, the city Fire Marshall, Asset Living Ceo Ryan Mcgrath. I do pray that in this day of time someone takes this letter to heart, because if it was their love one they would want someone to be their voice as well.
