Candlewood Suites Jacksonville - Mayport, an IHG Hotel

I called a week before my scheduled check in to ask them to make sure I was in quiet room in which I could sleep after a long flight. I also reminded them at check in. They ended up putting me on the Collision Center Side of the building where at 7am loud mechanic noises were waking me up! Also note the AC compressor went on and over LOUDLY all night & the fan in the bathroom was noisy and on a sensor that also went off. The smoke alarm in room 308 had a dead battery that chirped on top of all that. I had booked multiple nights and asked to leave and be refunded for the rest of the nights. They let me know that the $99 dollar rate I booked would be charged to there "Normal Rate" of $157.77 I was too tired too argue and hadn't slept in 2 days. On top of all that I am POSITIVE I left behind my black jacket in a delirious insomnia state. When I called multiple times to retrieve it they told me it was not there. I hope this experience informs others. There are many better hotels including Marriot, Comfort Suites etc... This is a disgrace to IHG. I thought they had standards, but being shiesty and poor customer service takes precedence.

Very clean, staff bends over backwards for you. Well maintained. Rooms: Nicely appointed. Full kitchen minus an oven. Everything was clean and ready to go. Only two place settings per room.

Awesome stay, super nice and friendly staff, convenient location, free laundromat, windows open!!! Recent construction and kept clean. The only 2 absolute odities is that: 1- there is not a single outside table with a sunbrella where you could eat your sandwich on a nice afternoon, only 2 miserable rusty chairs by the barbecue that clash with the quality of the rest of the hotel... This is "Florida" folks... Maybe locals are fed up with the heat but visitors wanna sit outside. There's room by the pool for at least one table. 2- the lending closet has 3 or 4 panini grills that no one uses, but nothing for frozen pizzas. A Pizza contraption or a pizza toaster oven would be a nice addition. I suggested both upgrades and they said they'd do it and I'll gladly upgrade my review to a well-deserved 5 stars as soon as they confirm the improvements, because it really was a nice stay by extended stay and candlewood standards.
