Poplar Glen

Lots of crime in the parking lot. I've had one car stolen and 3 months later, my replacement car was damaged from another attempted theft. Lots of drug use in the parking lot. There's no form of security and management won't do anything about it. Management is constantly forcing their way into your unit with needless inspections every couple weeks and lie about what they are doing in them. They once claimed they were doing a balcony inspection and then I found them digging through the fridge. Sometimes they'll give a couple week notice, but other times they'll only give a 24 hour notice. Notices are only done via paper so expect a rude surprise when you go away for more than a couple days. Units have rodent and roach infestation issues. Management is incompetent and will often send threatening letters about legal action for past due rent and insurance compliance by mistake. They've also raised prices an insane amount in the past few years while quality has only gotten worse.

I love living at Poplar Glen! My new home is amazing! I wouldn't be here without the support of the office. Monique gave me thorough instructions on how the paperwork should go to move from NY to Columbia md. Candice helped me with the leasing process answering all of my questions and making me comfortable. I would not be here if it were not for them!

I scheduled a tour and knew from the second I walked in that this was not the place to live. I walked in the leasing office and a lady with blonde hair and purple lipstick greeted me, and was just rude. As soon as I walked in, she said hello and said she needed my ID, but she looked at me up and down like she didn't think I had one, then proceeded to insinuate that I could not afford the apartment. I told her I scheduled a tour for a 2 bedroom and she said "are you sure you want that one, because you would have to income qualify." I told her yes, and she proceeded to ask me if I was bringing any roommates. I told her that I was not sure at the moment, but I'm prepared to move by myself, and she tells me " a two bedroom is not what you're looking for," and even when I told her that's what I wanted to see she proceeded to look at me with big eyes, shook her head, and said "you know you have to make 3 times the rent to qualify." Then she asks me about my job and tells me, "so are you in management or..." Then she goes to check what the minimum income is just to rent from the community as a whole. I'm not sure what was wrong, or why I couldn't just go on the tour, but she was making the process very uncomfortable. Another woman with braids ended up taking me on the tour to see the apartment, she was amazing! However, the damage was already done. If this is how Poplar Glen is treating people that they are trying to get money from, I don't want to know how they treat people that are locked into leases with them. I guess the apartment looked okay though.
