Trying to get information from this outfit is impossible. First they will deny all knowledge of anything and if you persist and provide all the details you will be placed on hold for a long time. Then the person who can answer the question is at lunch [230pm] and will call back, except they never do.  The attorney general should shut this place down as it appears to be some type of insurance scam!

Awful!  My daughter's college requires students with other insurance to go to CHP's website to waive the health insurance.  She tried for 4 months, with repeated emails to CHP explaining that she couldn't log in.  She couldn't get them to resolve the issue before the deadline and was charged $1,400 for insurance she doesn't need and doesn't want.

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. I rarely ever write reviews - good or bad - but my experience with this insurance company was so horrendous I felt like I had to warn other people. I have this insurance provider through my law school in New York. Earlier this year I developed a neck issue and the doctor recommended an MRI. At first I refused to get an MRI because I was afraid it would cost money that, as a student, I did not have. I spoke to the doctors, the MRI facility, and, most importantly, the insurance company itself about this concern and everyone assured me the cost would be covered by my insurance. I directly spoke to  Consolidated Health Plan representatives, who told me, before I went in for the MRI, that I would be covered. I jumped through several hoops like these to make sure I wouldn't be hit with hidden costs. Sure enough, the insurance company took advantage of me and sent me a large bill months after the MRI. I called in again and they told me they just needed me to fill out a questionnaire and that it would be taken care of. I filled out the questionnaire and did everything that was asked of me, but continued to receive bills. Eventually I spoke to a manager (multiple times) who told me their representative never said the MRI would be "covered at 100%" and that I "did not have proof." THAT was the insurance company's defense. People generally dislike dealing with insurance companies, but this one used tactics I found unethical to downright hustle a student. I have not decided whether I will pursue legal remedies or not, but the fact that I am even considering it should be an indication of what a terrible insurance company this is. I cannot stress enough what a horrible experience this has been over the past few months. Save yourself the trouble and take your business elsewhere.
