Easy return, very clean and comfortable waiting area

Open when other rental spots were closed, really helped us out of a bind when our car broke down in Laconia. They were able to get us set up on short notice (20 mins before closing) and rented us a nice car that was a current model. Interior was clean, barely any miles on the vehicle, and it was up-to-date with a computerized interface (which took some getting used to, and warranted a quick skim of the manual to figure out) The prices were also decent, lower than we expected. Only trouble is we had to return it in 24hrs. Service left a bit to be desired though, but considering we were there so close to closing time, I'll give it a pass. Also, that little globe decoration they have on the desk here is cool! Wonder where I can get one.

I've never rented from Avis before, I've always used enterprise. But, enterprise had no vehicles available, so I had to go with avis. When I arrived to pick up the car there were two employees working. One sat there on his cell phone while the other employee was talking on the phone with a customer AND checking me in at the same time. It was so confusing because the one employee was talking to both of us at the same time. They explained the insurance so fast that I was confused, but he was talking to two people at once. I asked to see in writing what the insurance covered, they dont have it in writing. Then no one went out with me to help me find the vehicle. They gave me the keys and told me to push the button on the keys to find the right vehicle, in the rain! So rude. When I found the vehicle it had scratches all over it and smelled like cigarettes. Did they care? No. Tough luck to me, I'm driving something that smells like smoke. It was disgusting. But, I thought maybe it was just a bad moment, but when I went back to drop it back off the same rude service. Two employees there, but again one person talking on the phone and talking to me at the same time. They asked me what the mileage was. I didn't have it. I had to go back out in the rain to grab the mileage. Enterprise always went out to check the mileage for me. They werent going out in the rain, I was! So rude! I wouldn't have minded getting the mileage if they told me when I picked it up that they would need the mileage, if they had told me ahead of time it would've saved me a trip in the rain. I've never had a less professional experience with a rental car company. I'm not going to go with avis again.
