Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Charleston North/Ashley Phosphate

The whole place smells like weed. The front door wasn't working and we couldn't get out of the hotel. There was no staff at the desk to assist with this. The toilet in our room kept malfunctioning and wouldn't flush, so you had to manually flush it. They didn't have any extra pillows. The hotel wasn't full, so I find this hard to believe. They also didn't recognize our Marriott platinum elite status at check-in. We were woken up at 0500 by someone else's child knocking on our door. There were multiple children running up and down the hallway. We won't be staying here again. What a dump. I don't like the smell of weed, and I don't want to be subjected to the smell of it.

Warning booked hotel months in advance drove 16 hours on a roadtrip to Charleston-I was called at 1:30 the day of my check-in telling me a pipe burst and I couldn't stay at the hotel. They canceled my reservation with no history on my account including in cancellations. I paid to stay in Charleston, a two bed room with breakfast. They moved me to a hotel not in Charleston, 1 bed, no breakfast and wasn't part of the Marriot chain. They said they could do nothing to keep us in Charleston as we booked. They said points would be added to my Marriott account and never did. I called back days later to resolve the fact that I never received the points and no one answers the phone. Do not trust this hotel-this issue is being escalated, book else where.

The hotel itself was ok. Room was spacious . The complimentary breakfast was decent. My problem was with housekeeping. We had no towels and had to literally beg for towels. Finally got some around 945 am the next day. This is unacceptable and does not say alot for a Marroit hotel. My advice is bring your own towels or drip dry. Rooms: Spacious rooms and decent.Staff is very slack and non chalant Nearby activities: Close proximity to every thing we needed.

If you're booking for business there's no point in staying here. The shuttle runs 7 am - midnight. Most people stay by the airport for early or late runs. A one way Uber run will cost $20-$50 each way. In my case, I landed at 12:15 am and left at 6 am. I spent $85 on Ubers. If you need early or late pickups it looks like the Crown Plaza will accommodate. Rooms are old and run down.

We booked and have the receipt for a room with 2 queens. We checked in and are given 1 queen. The worker carelessly blew us off when we tried showing the booking receipt and walked away
