This outfit bought out the previous owner who is now retired. The place remains the same, but the fees, attitude, and service are up, down, and way down respectively. Rather than giving you a form to fill out, they want you to make an appointment. (This is a one-person office, not sure how the voice at the end of the line would handle appointments with customers appointments filling the day.). I asked the person why consulting is necessary; the answer I got was Its complicated. Really, like I havent done this before (after flying 4.2 million miles in a 10-year period)? Or are they making it complicated to justify the consultation fee? Disgusted, I called another visa service in town. They have a web site giving the fee structure, visa application requirements (such as copy of drivers license yes, the visa is from a communist country therefore everyone who enters is a potential spy and enemy of the state), and the visa application form itself. The second company also requires an appointment, not to tell you the requirements but to receive your application and check to see if everything is in order while taking your money. I am going with them.

The reason I'm giving only 3 stars because I had to deal with the jerk who is supposed to be the manager there. When I called, he didn't say anything about needing an appointment, or that they stop helping people after 3:30 even though they close at 4:30. We fought traffic from Edmonds, found expensive parking, walked around to find the place, and got there a little after 3:30. He refused to look at our papers to see if everything was complete and refused to answer any questions. We ended up calling the next day to make an appointment and took a second trip down to get the visas done. We were helped by Kourtney who provided excellent service! My daughter needed a student visa and has to go down to San Francisco anyway to get fingerprinted so we could have gotten our visas done in person at the consulate without paying the service fee. Oh well. Be aware that there's a good chance of fingerprint requirement for student visas by the San Francisco consulate but not the one in New York.

Rude. Today I called asking about the Chinese visa process and remarked how confusing and difficult the process is (you hear that everywhere). The lady on the phone had a contrary air about her and said very condencending "Well it IS thier country, and you ARE going there to WORK". I am half Chinese and know this, but this woman thought she had the right to be a jerk. Every other company I called was nice and just agreed it is difficult :) I would not be handing over my private info to people with this attitude. Maybe she just needed to eat lunch...
