I paid $10k+ to trade one problem for three more. I have changed my original review. They asked me soon after my procedure to write a review. I obliged without fully knowing what the end result would look like. I am disappointed in myself for that, especially considering that people will make important decisions based on it that will drastically effect the rest of their lives. I was excited and trying my best to stay optimistic. But my expectations are far from being met. The truth is this: from far away my nose looks better. But close up, it looks worse. I have always had a slightly deviated septum, but I was always able to breathe through both sides. Thats no longer the case. My left nostril is almost completely blocked, and at night its completely blocked. Everything is squished down inside my nose, and my septum is pushed all the way to the left. Everytime I brought my concerns to Dr. Hertes attention, she seemed to get defensive and dismissive, and I was told over and over that it was just swelling. I was sick of hearing that, so without telling her, I decided to get a consultation with a different clinic in town to get a second opinion and see what my future options would be. This is exactly what that doctor told me: I dont mean to discourage you, and Im sure it looks better than before, but her work is very sloppy. He was especially critical of the stitch job. On the rim of my right nostril there is a bump of skin from how the stitches were done. Its little but noticeable, and if you didnt know any better you would think its a booger. When I complained about that, she dismissed it and said Youll be fine as long as no one looks up at you. I couldnt believe that she said this. Literally half the people I meet are shorter than me. Plus Im a middle school teacher. If she wouldve said that BEFORE the procedure, it wouldve been a huge red flag. Even worse is that on the bridge of my nose there is a sharp piece of bone that she left there on accident. It hurts when I squint or smile big. As the swelling has gone down, and as more scar tissue has developed around that bump, it has only gotten more and more noticeable. She told me there is nothing that can be done about it. My new doctor said thats BS! You mean to tell me you can take down the hump on a nose, but you cant do anything about a little piece of bone? Im actually more insecure about my nose now than I ever was. During one of my follow up visits, Dr. Herte said that we would start scar treatment on my next visit. For three weeks I was excited about this and I looked forward to starting scar treatment. When that day arrived, after she rudely dismissed my other concerns, she started lowering the chair I was in, as though the visit was over. I said what about scar treatment?. This was her response: Oh yeah. When you check out, tell Jennifer at the front desk that you want to purchase a can of scar cream. That was my scar treatment. The opportunity to purchase some product. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. At least get a second opinion before you put your life in her hands. Even if youre offered a good deal, its better to pay a little more somewhere else if youre looking for quality. I wish I wouldve waited and saved a little more money. I will have another procedure to correct this one, but it wont be at the Herte Center. The two stars Im giving this are for the team that works for her. They could not have been nicer, especially Cristina, the Patient Care Coordinator. I always felt welcome and comfortable when dealing with the staff, and for that I am thankful.
