50-70% sale but I'm sorry when opening the door.. As much as I hate to say this the place had a Embarrassing odor . I think those rugs were way over priced.

I purchased three rugs in 2000. I was a novice buyer at the time: very young. I was purchasing for my first house. And I trusted what I was told. I didn’t realize that the “real” value is in the older rugs, not the newer reproductions. On the positive: the rugs are lovely. The craftsmanship is top notch. On the not so positive: I was told that I could trade the rugs in toward new ones as I purchased a larger home. That the rugs “do not lose value”. That was a HUGE selling point for me, and why I chose not to purchase from Asodorian. We moved to a larger home. I contacted Paul about trading them in for larger sizes. He told me “we do not trade rugs”. (?????). What about the “value” you sold me on at the time? Guess not so valuable. Lesson learned: I should have requested that in writing. Other lesson learned: don’t pay attention to the appraisal they give you. It’s only worthwhile if the rug is damaged or stolen. There is close to ZERO resale value in a used, new rug created from a template of “classic” rugs. Don’t believe me? Ask a respected Persian rug seller outside of St Louis. Like I did. A few times. Or, try and sell those rugs. I did that too. I learned my lesson. My next rug was an older one that has appreciated in value. The $20k in rugs I bought from Hakimian? I can’t even sell for $100 a piece. If you are looking to purchase rugs as an investment, do not buy new reproductions. Side note: in the larger cities like Chicago and NY, it’s kind of a “known” thing that the rug sellers will go out of business then pop back up in a different storefront with a different name a few months later. I’m not saying that is what is happening here, just that the larger cities have been noticing that trend over the last ten plus years.
