        The resort itself is nice and with very nice people. The family and I stayed for a week with it being convenient to LEGOLAND. The only disappointed I guess for us is we were expecting a balcony with an ocean view as advertised and we ended up with a room in the courtyard with a sliding glass door but you cant step out of it.

        I usually go to this resort for my birthday in March. When I told the check-in clerk Johnny it was my birthday weekend he gave me a $15 restaurant gift card AND a wonderful wine and cheese/meat/fruit platter. I was truly touched by the gift. Rooms: Good size rooms and bathrooms for a couple or a family. Nearby activities: We started coming for Legoland, but Carlsbad is not just for kids. I love to walk along the beach, eat in the wonderful array of restaurants (especially Daily News Cafe and Bluewater Grill), shop at the outlets or in-town (Blues and Shoes). The laid back small town vibe is always refreshing.

        Junky little two star hotel. Over sells rooms and gives you an inferior room. Even if you check in to the room online. Forget that. They'll give your room away! Make sure you are there in person. I swear everything Marriott buys they just destroy. Restaurant is decent though.

        Based on 1 visit: 3.5 stars. Nice enough location and rooms, and the service is a step below what I expected. I called guest services twice, and gave up both times after about 2 minutes of letting it ring. I had to ask for a parking pass, as they did not give me one when I checked in, even though I asked about where to park. They did not have a room ready for us after check-in time, and I do have lifetime status with the hotel. The prepay rate cited said it included resort fee, and it did not; it was charged later. It is at least $35 a day for parking which seems high, particularly on top of resort fee... And given it is simply spots around the hotel. For the price we paid I expected far better. Noteworthy details: Right by Legoland. We did not go to Legoland however.
