I was really excited to take my daughter to the Waldorf school. Unfortunately, it was an awful experience. There was so much judgment and preaching and shaming from the teacher. She even made a rude comment about my choice of pants! Not my daughter's pants, mind you, but my pants. It was utterly inappropriate, an incredibly disappointing experience overall.

Waldorf is a dream school for my daughter. We love it here and we feel truly supported when it comes to our healthy lifestyle. My daughter is learning so many skills here that are truly life enhancing. Permaculture gardening, yoga, Spanish, creativity, knitting, art, building, nutrition, life essentials, community, togetherness, empowerment, traditions, on top of math, science, history. We have sooo much gratitude.

This Waldorf school isn't very good. While Waldorf in theory has wonderful elements, they are largely absent here due to inflexible, almost cultist thinking by the faculty. We had expected so much more and withdrew our child before the year was out.

My Waldorf education gave me an innate appreciation for nature and the arts, instilled compassion and self-worth, and cultivated a lifelong desire to critically think and to learn. It has shaped who I am, and was, without a doubt, responsible for the magical and innocent childhood I was blessed to experience. Waldorf is a community where children are cherished and nurtured and encouraged to hold onto their childhood for as long as possible. With parent involvement and a deep rooted relationship between the teachers and students, it offers an incredible alternative to the failing public education experienced.

We relocated from Santa Rosa to Santa Cruz. Our dd attended Summerfield Waldorf, and we were excited to enroll her here, but it didn't work out very well. She was bullied by an older girl for a number of months before we found out. There seemed to be no repercussions. We were told in so many words that this was something kids need to work out for themselves. Plus, we're agnostic, and religion wasn't an issue at Summerfield, but here it was more pronounced. There are some pluses. The grounds are gorgeous, and there are some good down to earth folks. Maybe if your kid has a heartier disposition, it might work. Some kids seem happy enough.
