    Charles at Main Street Minis is the best. We had that evil 1/2 engine light come on and he got us in and out in the same day. When I got the quote I felt a lot of relief. He is more than fair and Honest. It was the first time my wife's 2013 Mini needed more than the basics done and I would not hesitate to recommend Main Street Minis. Here's two more stars, making it 7 stars as far as I am concerned.

    Main Street MINI three stars and I say that it is an average rating I cant give 2 1/2 so were gonna go with three. This is the 2nd place Ive taken my car for service. Chuck at Main Street MINI told me that the other place was overcharging me, and that he had better pricing. So Ive given him some work for my MINI which I have absolutely needed. Ive used Main Street three times now and Ive had issues two of the three times. First, I will say that Chuck communicates over text or I should say hes reachable over text, which is a good thing. Second, he also let me borrow one of his loaner cars as hes working on my car, which is a very nice feature. But on my first service, I felt like his price was high, but I was suffering trauma from my last location and hoping to build a good relationship so I paid the price. On the second service I thought the price was too high but I was stupid and not getting other quotes. When I picked up my car there was a couple issues and I said hey this doesnt look right that doesnt look right but Chuck said no everythings fine and that bothered me but what am I gonna do? Im not an expert and I dont have tools and I dont work on cars. The third time I went in for service. It was completely wrong what was done. The parts were installed completely incorrectly. It was a travesty. I am fortunate to have a coworker at my work who is a mechanic and together on a long lunch break,we fixed these issues that I had with my last two services. We had to reattach the intake to the turbo, as it was not correct. We had to bend the driver side fender back into position, and re-thread a bolt because it had been over torque and stripped out, this is for the windshield cowling. The 2 piece replacement cowling was not on the window properly, because the support underneath had not been installed correctly, because the caulking around the window had not been cleaned up to allow for correct installation. As well, the wiper blades were comically high like like a comedy movie and so we adjusted those back down to a normal level. Coolant levels too low on the car and they replaced the water pump and the turbo and an oil change and I feel like its not too much to add some coolant to the reserve tank when its below the low line, my coolant is still low. They forgot to rotate the tires, I did that myself another day on a lunch break. I have now gone to a couple other mechanics because the last two services with Main Street Minis had issues, and I felt like I had to find somebody else. So these other two locations, both said that Chuck had charged me more than they thought was reasonable, especially on the turbo installation. One mechanic said they took you for breakfast, lunch,and dinner on the turbo job. I dont think that Chuck really cares about attention to detail with the issues I have had. As well two times they left tools in the car and both times I said hey heres these tools these are not my tools these are your tools, just a another detail where its lacking and I have concerns. I did call Chuck about my concerns again after two other mechanic shops told me the prices were high, and I told him, Chuck the issues that I had and my concerns and asked for a small accommodation of a small refund, but Chuck says that he charged me everything by the book. My understanding is book rates are what the dealers charge and of course the dealership is going to be the most expensive place you can go, you look for independent shops to not pay dealer fees or dealer prices or dealer hours. For instance, its nine hours on the books to change the turbo as Chuck said. Another mechanic said it wouldnt be nine hours to change a turbo, but I mean different shops have different levels of experience. So Im going to try another shop, may be my third shop I try will be the one that is right for me.

    Been here twice. First time is when Mini of Calabasas screwed us and my car broke down. At that point, we loved this place. Second time though not so much. We live nearly 2h away and my s/o stayed overnight to get our car looked at by these guys since we liked them so much. Our check engine light was on. Service light was on. He asked them to take a look, change the oil and turn the lights off. He came back later today and both lights were still coming on. All they did was an oil change. If they don't have the time to look at the car, tell us please. That wasted a whole day for an oil change which I could have had done at jiffy. Now I need to find another mechanic to turn off the lights and make sure my engine is actually alright! Frustrating how bad service is at these places now days. Extra star is because of how good they were the first time. Don't know what happened.

I would like to see a written estimate from the other shop that said they would charge less so I know they were not comparing apples to oranges. We did do a few other things when we did the turbo replacement and are always very transparent in our estimates and invoicing. I am glad you found a shop that better suits you.

Hi May. I don’t have any record of you at all and no customers came in today wanting to get their check engine light diagnosed. It may have been miscommunication. Service and diagnosing a check engine light are 2 different things. A check engine light doesn’t jus get “turned off” it needs to be diagnosed and repaired.
