As a high performer, I had lost sight that not all individuals are wired the same way and what motivates me, may not motivate my team. Working with my coach helped me understand that everyone is wired differently, and different people need different things to be effective. This invaluable insight has not only improved my leadership skills but also my ability to collaborate effectively with my team and teams across the entire company. Our IT team has grown rapidly over the years. My opportunity was communicating more effectively in executive level meetings. My Exponential Results coach challenged me to identify the root cause of my issue. Like many leaders, I had attempted to implement improvements and while it worked temporarily, there was no permanent improvement. My coach helped me realize that I needed to change my personal beliefs about myself while implementing physical changes in order for improvements to be sustained for the long-term. With my coachs guidance, I realize that I had been struggling with imposter syndrome, feeling like I didnt deserve my success and position. After this realization, we worked together on a gameplan to update my beliefs and corresponding behavioral patterns to implement practical actions and ultimately, improve my performance in executive level meetings. I have always been a leader inside and outside of the workplace. My leadership style has always been to lead by example. However, after several years of managing people, I found that my message wasnt being received the way I had intended. Through both internal and third-party feedback, I was really struggling to communicate effectively to find a connection with my team and peers. Bottom line, I wasnt developing my team, or creating the results in our business that I was seeking as a leader. Velocity is amazing!
