Our stay at Hampton Inn Washington Downtown Convention Center was marred by a frustrating incident. We ordered an iPhone and AirPods to be delivered to the hotel but had to leave before they arrived. The hotel received the items and they have confirmed it. The AirPods were successfully returned, but the iPhone was not. This oversight caused inconvenience and disappointment, especially since the items were delivered after we left. Unfortunately, the iPhone seems to have gone missing, and it appears to be stolen. We have opened an investigation with Apple, but this situation is truly saddening and disappointing. We are deeply disappointed by a hotel as big as this, as they should have done more to avoid such inconvenience.

First, I'm not a demanding person. I am in the hospitality industry and appreciate how hard running a hotel can be. I also want to start with the positives: Great location and very close to everything one would want to see while in DC. The breakfast was also above average with different items mixed in each day. The negatives: The rooms were quite small and the pool is a joke (think large bathtub). I was on the 7th floor (same view of the Dumpster as a previous review showed), which was an issue because the window locks were broken (yes they can be opened) and noise was prominent. But the worst part by far was the water pressure. Showering was nearly impossible and on our last day a letter was posted that they would be replacing the water pump to address the problem I guess. Checking out also became a problem when they try to overcharge Us by $300 because they did not factor in points. Then they ran our car twice stating it was declined when we called the credit card company they confirmed they have been approved and all of a sudden the manager stated it was approved without touching a key or doing anything else. It felt very shady. It seemed like a lot of people were having problems as every time we walked through the lobby someone was angry. Overall it's probably fine for a day or two but when you're staying 5 days the issues Mount up. I did not complain and just dealt with it but the final straw was the checkout process.
Rooms: The rooms were small but fine. The biggest issues were the faulty windows non-existent water pressure.

Generally the hotel seems decent. Unfortunately Im convinced I was in the worst room in the building. If you end up in room 211, youre better off sleeping in the hallway. The room faces the back of the building where the dumpsters are. There are no blackout curtains so youre basically sleeping in complete brightness coupled with the fact that at any hour of the night dump trucks will come pick up trash and sound alarms that you cant avoid hearing. If I was in a different room, I expect I would have had a different experience.

I enjoyed my stay here and found it quite comfortable. The room was great, and the bed was comfortable. Location wasn't the best at night, but I felt okay walking around. Just gets quiet after 5 p.m., with not a lot of folks walking around. Found a lovely food hall nearby. Excellent front desk staff and really nice breakfast. It is close to the metro which is a huge plus. I will definitely be back!
