Holiday Inn & Suites Chicago Northwest - Elgin, an IHG Hotel

Update : Tried this location once again. Not even sure where to start... A/C fan was so loud in the room that I could not sleep. The fan in the bathroom did not turn off. The light in the makeup mirror was burned out. (That's normally not a big deal, but I use it to put in my contacts.) The noise from 31 Hwy was very loud as were the patrons coming from bennigan's who decided to raise motorcycles in the parking lot. Additionally, breakfast was just okay. Had to hunt down a server more than once for silverware, coffee, salt and pepper, sugar, etc. The tables were not set up for as many people as they had, yet the servers were all standing around the back talking to each other rather than assisting customers. Finally, dinner from Bennigan's was good! When I first arrived, the desk agent did not believe that I had a reservation. Even though I had already checked in, she could not find my name so I had to prove to her I had a confirmation number. Even then, she questioned me. The hallways smell like baby poop. It was bad when I checked in last night and even worse today. There is stuff hanging off the ceiling and my room. Not sure if it's old ceiling tiles or if it just needs to be cleaned. Finally, the iron is broken. The retractable cord will not stay out. I plugged it in and I was ironing my clothes and the cord came back and snapped at me spraying water from the iron everywhere... including all over me and the walls. The wait staff at Bennigan's is very nice, which is the only reason I'm even giving two stars.

Good place. Allows pets. There are many good places to eat around there and very good restaurants at the hotel. Prices were good too. Rooms: Cleaned well. Nearby activities: Small towns near by. Safety: Ok to walk the dog at night and early morning. Food & drinks: Great restaurant and staff.
