Hampton Inn Chicago Elgin / I-90

This hotel is in need of work. It is becoming run down and uncomfortable. Not up to the standard of Hilton.

Booked this place for the week with my wife and kids. Booked it because it had a pool. Got there and the pool was down for maintenance indefinitely, because they waiting on a part to get installed. Booked two queen beds under the assumption that the room would be big enough for them both. It was not. They crammed the two beds into the room, leaving a narrow strip between the ends of the beds and the TV stand and the desk. The chair for the desk was comfy enough which is good because given the tight space you cant move the chair anywhere else. Next to the desk was the AC which had the control panel cover off. Above that was a narrow window which provided no scenic view but would allow the sunset to beam directly into your skull when laying on the bed. Breakfast was okay but that meal is optional for me anyway. If you have any way of getting the Holiday Inn just up the road you should aim that way.

0/10 Would not recommend this hotel for several reasons: 1. They charged my card twice for my room. While mistakes happen, they refused to correct the error and I had to file a dispute with my bank, which they tried to fight. 2. Front desk staff was rude and seemed annoyed that they had to interact with me in any capacity. 3. I was informed that breakfast ended at 10:30, but everything was already cleaned up when I left my room to eat a few minutes after 10:00. 4. Water for the shower did not have an adjustable temperature and the water was so hot I was unable to shower. 5. Pool and hot tub were down. I understand maintenance is important, but judging by the reviews its been down for months. Also, when checking in my son was talking about being excited to go swimming, yet the staff didnt mention the pool being closed.

I thought I'd stay at Hampton Inn to try to save some money...HUGE mistake. The first room I checked in to had dirty tissues on the bathroom floor and jammed into the peep hole of the door. The second room I was given was worse, as there were black specs, public hairs, and stains on the bedsheets. The third room also had stained, wrinkled sheets, so I checked out and went to the Holiday Inn next door... which was immaculate. I would definitely not recommend the Hampton Inn.
