Pros: Front desk was very friendly. Cons: We checked-in at 10:30pm and wanted to go straight to bed. The room smelled like old take out food. People above our room banged on the floor until past midnight (not the hotels fault). Everyone in my family was awake by 5:30AM. Turned on the lights and found different bugs in the room, both on pillows and the floor (pictures included). We left, fast. On the way out, there was no continental breakfast. Not sure we wouldve trusted to eat it, had it been there, but that was one of the reasons why we initially booked the hotel. Cancelled our return stay at the hotel.

It's an alright hotel for a budget. My room #216 could do-in for a makeover or update but the one thing I like, that a lot of hotels are doing nowadays, is replacing or installing hardwood floor tiling instead of carpeting. Don't let the neighborhood surroundings fool you with a "sketchy" appearance, it's pretty quiet and Illinois University has off-campus all along Lincoln, also it's at the top of a freeway junction so the road tends to be rough looking. Frequent bus service to/from the university campus & nightlife district (bus layover is next to the hotel). For $70+ (plus taxes) this is a good bargain for a hotel. Not the best BUT pretty good Rooms: It just needs to be updated but it is a budget hotel not the Marriott. Never been a big fan of fabric curtains, so plastic or metal would give the room a "cleaner" look The shower head needs to be replaced -- not broken just outdated -- but decent. Room is up to code and pretty good Safety: The area is at the very tip of the Urbana city limits next to the freeway. The neighborhood is quiet and NOT sketchy. Off-campus housing and other hotels for the University of Illinois are next to it. The Illini campus is a mere 1-2 miles nearby.
